February 17th, 2009

Today was an average day on the ship but we had no classes besides global studies which was nice. Since tomorrow we will be in South Africa. Also yesterday I bought township visit from a girl on the ship for tomorrow and so did Courtney! So that should be fun and I hear it is a great experience I am really excited to tell you all about it. Today I spent most of my day blogging and catching up on sleep. I may have also spent oh about an hour or so at lunch because today was our first TACO DAY!!!! It was amazing and I think I had about four tacos in 20 minutes (om nom nom) (hahahaha) and had to sit for the rest of the hour to digest.

At four I woke up for our cultural preport which we watched in our room together. (Our room is now covered with all of the artwork I have been buying). We then had a mustard drill. On our way out on the drill I made a comment to Rolando my steward about his new haircut and he just giggled and said thank you. He is a very nice and hard working man.  After the drill I met up with the girls for dinner. Dinner was great and I think we all must have had a lot of energy after sleeping all day cause I don’t think I have laughed that hard in a very long time. We also got a giant piece of left over birthday cake from one of the crew members Mez which was great. After dinner Erica and I went to the Union to watch a movie about Mt. Everset a couple who is on the ship now and leaving tomorrow had made about their climb to the base camp. It was really interesting and funny! Ten minutes before 8 Erica left to go to the bathroom and I didn’t see her again and when the lights turned on for the logistical preport the only person I found was Dylan so we sat together to watch. We noticed all around us people had these bingo sheets. It was kind of funny someone had made bingo sheets of phrases Luke always says and someone even yelled out bingo after they won which confused everyone in the room but was still pretty funny. Well tomorrow I will be in South Africa!! And oh Dylan, Courntey, Heidi (Dylan’s roommate ) and Peter (Heidi’s borther) and I are all sleep outside on the deck tonight to watch us come into the Cape Town and watch the sunrise. Rumor has it if you see any of them this is the one to see. So I am off to sleep outside and tomorrow I will be in Cape Town in a township, followed by a three day safari, and the last day a hike up Table Mountain and hopefully and abseil down, and perhaps a little shopping the last day before we leave. Cant wait to tell you all the stories!!!!

  1. Ok, pretty sure the om nom nom is an inside joke with your friends cuz we've never said om nom nom, ever.

Cheers to taco day and sunrises!
