This morning was a very nice morning, it was the first time I didn’t have to set an alarm since I started the voyage. I slept in until about 10 oclock which was much needed after staying up late to watch the super bowl. I watched the game with Eric and Francisco ( I met them in the hostel in Seville and they happen to live down the hall from me on the ship). After waking up I went up to the piano lounge to do some homework with Emily and noticed we were moving and headed out of “Gebellzar”(that’s what Dylan liked to call Gebralter cause she could never remember the name, she also liked to imagine Gefar from Aladin sitting atop the rock with a “zebra”or so she meant cobra). Well anyways we were on our way out of Gebralter on to Morocco at last!!! A day late but that’s okay.
Today was a really rocky day on the ship many people were getting sea sick and I think everyone on the ship had a headache. Once I finished a little homework I decided today would be a free day me and the girls like to call it a “wave day”since we were supposed to be in Morocco anyways we gave ourselves the day off. After playing some cards and eating some snacks all of us weren’t feeling too well and split off to watch movies in bed. Anna and Courtney went to watch Blue Crush while Dylan and I watched Center Stage ( Abby joined us a little later). Erica and Kelly had been sleeping all day since the ship was so rocky.
At 5:00 there was a showing of the season premier of Lost in the Union all of us girls met up their and watched, naturally I took a little nap since it was dark and loud. We then had a little dinner, in the middle of dinner the captain made an announcement that the ship would get even more rocky as we turned a corner heading into port. Nobody really thought much of it and went about eating. In about maybe the next minute the ship got a huge jolt and all the girls plates on the tables started rushing towards me and everyone started laughing and grabbing plates, a second later there was a big crash of plates in the kitchen that shattered. For the next five minutes everyone held on to everything they could laughing, and just trying to stay up right. When we thought it was safe we got up to head toward the union for a presentation. As soon as we stood up one more big jolt hit! Me and Dylan grabbed each other like that would stop us from falling over and we just swayed back and forth holding each other and laughing. We took two more steps and another one hit throwing me and Dylan straight into a pillar we both just wrapped our arms around and hugged! It was finally over and we started walking all over the ship checking things. My cabin was a mess, the bookstore and store had things everywhere!!! I then ran into Joe who got a video of everyone in the piano lounge it was hilarious at one point everyone is swaying and then there are about 5 or 6 people on the ground with their chairs all over the place.
Once we all settled down from that we went to check our email before the pickpocketing presentation began. We have an ex LAPD office on the ship who was going to lecture us on safety. While we stopped at the computer lab Anna emailed someone to book our hotel for our Namibia trip!!! And we all received emails that our trips for Morocco were still taking place. The only upsetting part for mine was I would not be spending the night in Marikesh and may not even have time to shop around for any souvenirs. The presentation was informative and funny (he stole the same kids wallet twice throughout the hour).
