February 1st, 2009

On our calendar today it said no classes, but we did have global studies and when I usually wake up for breakfast this morning I decided to skip it sleep in and just head straight to global studies.  I sat in the room Emily, Megan, Win (from Rhode Island super funny guy his real name is Edwin but he likes to go by Win) and I always sit in but today we had technical difficulties and weren’t getting sound in our room. So ten minutes after lecture already started we had to walk in the main lecture hall and sit on the ground not really that pleasant.

So after global studies an announcement was made that due to weather we wouldn’t be able to head into Gebralter and refuel until later in the afternoon.  So I did homework all day with my new semester at sea blanket in the piano lounge and finally decided to take a break and get my computer fixed. I sat in the computer lounge for two hours and this amazing tech guy Nathan finally fixed my computer yay!!! After that I ran into Dylan while I was taking pictures and we met up with the girls and hung out in Kelly’s room talking before deciding to go to dinner. Okay and to clarify the girls are Kelly ( from Memphis), Anna ( from Colorado), Kelly (Indianpolis), Erica (Colorado), Dylan (California), and Abby (California).. Okay now that that is out of the way me and the girls went to dinner and then decided to play apples to apples before our preport mandatory meeting.

We had been in the straight of Gebralter all day and even had a boat connected to us for a few hours which we all were under the assumption was refueling the ship. ( Our mistake)

When we got to the preport meeting the executive dean gave all of his announcements, along with the wellness director, and all the usuals. Until we got that bad news that when that boat was connected to our ship earlier in the day we actually weren’t able to get fuel and we wouldn’t be arriving in Morocco until hopefully early tomorrow night.  They are not sure when we will be able to refuel due to the weather the seas are too rough, and there is a thunder storm.

So after the bad news was given, we were told that our overnight trips are going to try and be replanned but they are unsure.  Many people were upset but I decided to go along with it cause if our trip is cancelled so our many others so we will have plenty of people to plan something with spur of the moment. And also Courtney and Anna were doing this trip indy anyways.

What I was first going to do after the meeting was a little homework but once I realized I would have all day tomorrow open me and the girls went up top got a pizza and decided to play catch phrase in the Union.  We played for an hour and half while people filed in to the Union rumor was we were going to be able to watch the super bowl.  Finally at midnight the screens were turned on and their it was the game! So now I am sitting watching the game with everyone in the Union and blogging.  It is really nice to have things like this. And earlier tonight we saw girls doing a scavenger hunt which seems like a really fun idea and maybe we will try it sometime.  Things they had were like ( find someone with a tattoo, nipple pierced, take a picture of yourself serving fro yo from deck 7, find a certain book and so on) I thought it was a great idea. Tonight has been the most fun night on the ship so far and I think part of it is we all know we have nothing to do tomorrow so everyone was staying up late hanging out and the super bowl helped too!

Well hopefully we get to Morocco tomorrow and I still get to hike the Berber Villages. I will keep you all updated. But right now sitting the straight of Gebralter looking at the lights of the city from the ship watching the super bowl with friends is super fun and really relaxing!
